A model for the simulation of the heating transient of contact elements under short-circuit conditions is described. The model permits the determination of the maximum temperature reached by the contact area under defined test conditions. In such a way it is possible to identify the conditions which do not cause contact welding. Numerical results obtained by simulation have been compared to the results of an experimental investigation on normal production contacts.

Abstract
A model for the simulation of the heating transient of contact elements under short-circuit conditions is described. The model permits the determination of the maximum temperature reached by the contact area under defined test conditions. In such a way it is possible to identify the conditions which do not cause contact welding. Numerical results obtained by simulation have been compared to the results of an experimental investigation on normal production contacts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
