Abstract

In the last decade high energy and high peak power pulsed laser sources have been in a great demand for a variety of applications such as remote sensing (LIDAR, DIAL), range findings, communications systems and material processing. Since the energy of the pulsed laser oscillator is generally much lower than the one required for the applications, a fibre amplifier is commonly used to boost the output power, realizing the so called MOPA (Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) laser architecture.
