RaCHy is a project funded by EURAMET in the framework of the EMPIR Health programme. The project aims at providing metrological support to achieve the maximum synergistic advantages in the integration of radiotherapy oncology with different hyperthermia techniques, based on high intensity Therapeutic Ultrasound (TUS), Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) and the use of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) excited by AC magnetic fields. Therapy efficacy will be tested in in vitro and in vivo experiments adopting a multidisciplinary methodology, which involves energy delivery and temperature measurements, tissue imaging, biological assessments and in silico modelling. The final goal is the quantification of the combined effect of radiation and hyperthermia therapy in terms of equivalent dose distributions.
