The papers presents some consideration about the impact of the use of several typologies of luminaries, including the LED equipped, on energy saving and atmospheric pollution. In road lighting it is easy to connect energy consumption, related to illuminance on the road, with the perceptive result (and standard constraint), related to the luminance. This connection is made by the luminance coefficient. The paper shows the possibility offered by the adoption of the luminance coefficient as an essential parameter for the design of efficient road lighting installations and the associated reduction of the atmospheric pollution and of the sky luminance.

Abstract
The papers presents some consideration about the impact of the use of several typologies of luminaries, including the LED equipped, on energy saving and atmospheric pollution. In road lighting it is easy to connect energy consumption, related to illuminance on the road, with the perceptive result (and standard constraint), related to the luminance. This connection is made by the luminance coefficient. The paper shows the possibility offered by the adoption of the luminance coefficient as an essential parameter for the design of efficient road lighting installations and the associated reduction of the atmospheric pollution and of the sky luminance.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
