Fe–Pt thinfilmsweredepositedbyrfsputteringonanMgOsubstrateheatedatdifferenttemperatures to inducetheformationoftheperpendicularFe–PtL10 phase withadifferentgrainmorphologyonthe nanometerscale.AllfilmsarecharacterizedbyamazelikepatternofFePtnanograinswith interconnectedbases.MFMimagesandmagnetizationcurvesindicatethatallsampleshaveastrong perpendicularmagneticanisotropyarisingfrom(001)growth.Thetemperaturebehaviourofthe electricalresistanceindicatesthatapercolatingpathexistsforconductionelectronsinthemazelike pattern.Themagnetoresistancewasmeasuredasafunctionofmagneticfield(appliedlongitudinally) and temperatureintheranges 70 kOeoHo+70kOeand4KoTo150 K,respectively.Allsamples displayacomplexbehaviouroftheelectricalresistanceasafunctionofappliedfield.Theroleofthe differentmagnetoresistanceeffects(bothintrinsicandextrinsic)measuredintheseFePtthinfilmsis elucidated.
